Original U.S. M-1881 Medical Officer's White Spiked Pith Helmet One-of-a-Kind After garrison duty in ManilaOriginal Item: One Only. Much like our European cousins in the 1880s, the U. S. Army started to adopted spiked pith helmets, often in white, with all brass mounts and occasionally plumes. These saw active service in the Spanish American War of 1898 especially in the tropical climate in Cuba. In size 7, complete with leather sweat band, the helmet boasts a Spike to its top mount and shows a small Medical Cross as it's helmet plate. The buttons over the
